Club Tuesday Night Schedule

NOTE: Tournaments that are listed as “regular” and “active” are rated by the CFC as regular and active rated tournaments. KW Chess Club membership and CFC membership are required to play in these tournaments. Club night tournaments are not rated and are open to players at the club.

Winter 2010

Tournaments open to any player with a Chess Federation of Canada membership:

  • KW Winter Open Feb 19, 20, 21
  • Spring Active April 24
  • OYCC (youth only) May 14, 15, 16
  • Twin City Open Championship 2010 (Tuesday nights)
  • KW Team Challenge June 19
  • September Active Sept 11
  • Oktoberfest Open Oct 15, 16, 17

Swiss Style Tournament : Players play each round. The Swiss system pyramids to determine a winner but matches players of similar scores and strength.

Club Tournaments

Tournaments that are listed as “regular” and “active” are rated by the CFC as regular ratings or as active rating tournaments. (See www.chess.ca for listings.) KW Chess Club membership and CFC membership are required to play in the Club tournaments listed below.

Club night tournaments are not rated and are open to players at the club. These tournaments usually have a time control of 5 min or 10 min with a 10 s increment per move.

  • Players in this tournament will play the same opponent twice, once as White, once as Black

  • Time Control (20 m + 10 s) Bronstein  (With the Bronstein control, increments are not added rather the clock delays by 10 s.  If you use less than 10 s, the clock returns to the previous time.)

    • This five round tournament has a Time Control of 40 min with 20 sec added per move (Fischer) – In the Fischer system time may be accumulated as the 20 sec are added whatever time the player takes for each move.

Also ... the Occassional Tuesdays (based on interest) we will feature an informal, free, "Coffee - House Tournament". Sign up the night of the tournament, 5, 7, or 10 minute games, 4 - 5 rounds in the evening. - A more casual tournament.
